Ecommerce migration
A new platform.
Same customers, same orders.
We handle ecommerce migrations from one platform to another: Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento, Shopware. We move products, customers, orders and URLs, and set up the redirects so Google finds the new shop where it used to find the old one.
The catalogue is the easy part.
The rest matters more.
Almost every platform can export products. The real work is everything around them.
- 01
Products and variants.
Attributes, variants, images, prices and stock, remapped onto the new platform’s structure, which is almost never the same as the old one.
- 02
Customers and orders.
Accounts, addresses and order history, so returning customers find their purchases. Passwords usually can’t be moved: we prepare the email to reset them.
- 03
URLs and rankings.
A map of every old product, category and page URL, with a 301 redirect for each one. Titles, descriptions and content stay where Google knows them.
- 04
Integrations.
ERP, couriers, payments and email marketing reconnected to the new shop and tested with real orders before the switch.
- 05
Content.
Pages, articles, reviews and category copy, if you need them in the new structure too.
What we work with
Every move
has its tricky parts.
A few typical routes, and what to watch out for.
- 01
WooCommerce to Shopify.
For anyone tired of servers and plugins. Watch out for variants, custom fields and plugin features that become apps on Shopify.
- 02
From PrestaShop.
Often when a version upgrade turns out expensive. We put two estimates side by side: upgrade or switch platform.
- 03
From Magento.
To an up-to-date Magento 2, Shopware or Shopify, depending on how big the catalogue is and how much B2B rules matter.
- 04
Shopware 5 to 6.
A new platform, not an upgrade: data is migrated, theme and plugins are rebuilt.
From WooCommerce to Shopify.
What really changes.
People who move from WooCommerce to Shopify usually want to stop thinking about servers, plugins and updates. Here’s what comes across, what gets lost, how long it takes and what it costs.
Comes across to Shopify
- Products, variants, images and stock
- Customers with addresses and order history
- Categories, which become collections
- Pages, posts and copy for Google
- 301 redirects from every old URL
Gets lost or changes
- Customer passwords, which need resetting
- Plugins, replaced by apps or code
- Custom fields, to be remapped to metafields
- The shape of product and category URLs
- Control of the server, which passes to Shopify
Timing.
Usually a few weeks: it depends on how many products and plugins there are and how much of the theme needs redoing. The quote lists the milestones with dates, and the old store keeps selling until the switch.
Costs.
You can move just the data or rebuild the store too, for example with a custom Shopify theme. The price depends on the store’s specifics: after the analysis we send you a written quote, item by item.
Shopify’s costs.
On top of the subscription there are paid apps and, if you don’t use Shopify Payments, a fee on sales. We put them in the sums before you decide, not after.
Map first.
Then the move.
- 01
Analysis.
What’s in today’s shop: products, fields, plugins, integrations, URLs. This gives us the target platform, the tricky parts and a written quote.
- 02
Test run on real data.
A first migration on a test environment, with your products and your orders. You check, we fix.
- 03
Switchover.
A final sync of orders and customers, redirects live, domain switched at a quiet moment for sales.
- 04
After launch.
If agreed, we keep an eye on orders, errors and Search Console in the following weeks and fix any URLs left out.
Before you switch
platform.
How much does an ecommerce migration cost?
It depends on how many products, customers and orders there are, how customised the current shop is and what needs rebuilding on the new platform, such as theme and integrations. The price always depends on the project’s specs: after reviewing the shop we send you a written quote, item by item.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I switch platform?
Not if the migration is done properly. We map the old URLs and redirect them one by one, keep titles and content and, if agreed, check Search Console after launch. A few days of settling can happen; a lasting drop usually comes from missing redirects.
Does the shop stay open during the migration?
Yes. The new shop is built on a test environment while the old one keeps selling. At switchover we do a final sync of the orders that came in meanwhile.
Will customers have to reset their password?
Usually yes: each platform encrypts passwords its own way, so they can’t be transferred. We prepare an email that explains the change and links straight to the reset page.
Do you move email inboxes too?
No. We move the shop, its data and the website domain; email inboxes stay where they are, or are moved by whoever manages them.
Which platform should I move to?
It depends on catalogue, volumes, integrations and who will run the shop. There’s more on the ecommerce development page; for your case we’ll tell you after the analysis, not before.
