In short: WordPress support is the work that keeps a site up to date, secure and working after launch. In Italy it usually costs €200–1,000 a year with a freelancer and €600–3,600 with an agency, excluding VAT: these are the ranges that come up in price lists published in 2026. The price always depends on the site: how many plugins it runs, how many people visit it, what needs to be guaranteed.
What a support plan covers
There’s no one-size-fits-all package, but a serious plan covers at least these:
- WordPress, theme and plugin updates, tested first on a copy of the site (staging) and only then put live. Updating blindly is the quickest way to break a site.
- Automatic backups stored off the server, with tested restores: a backup nobody has ever restored is no guarantee.
- Security: access kept under control, vulnerable plugins replaced, a system that blocks intrusion attempts.
- Monitoring: alerts if the site goes down or something doesn’t look right.
- PHP and server: supported versions, checked before each upgrade.
- Small fixes: a change to the theme, a field in a form, a plugin that stops working.
What it usually doesn’t cover: new work (pages, features, a redesign), which is quoted separately or done with an hours bundle. If the site gets hacked, our plan covers removing malware that’s easy to spot; complex cases are quoted separately. We explain how on the page about the hacked WordPress site.
How much WordPress support costs
There are three ways to pay for it, and it’s worth knowing what you get with each.

Yearly plan
The most common option for a site that has to keep running all year. The price changes mostly with the kind of site:
- brochure site: the lowest fee, because there is less to check;
- online shop: costs more, because the cart, payments and order emails need checking after every update;
- high-traffic or enterprise sites: cost more again, because they need dedicated servers and stronger guarantees.
Hours bundle
For anyone who needs frequent changes: you buy a block of hours and use it when you need it, without needing a quote for every request. It works alongside the yearly plan, not instead of it.
One-off job
For a specific problem on a site we don’t look after: an error, a broken plugin, a hacked site. We look at the site first, then tell you the price. For the same amount of work it’s the most expensive option, because each time we start from scratch.
When you really need it
A WordPress site without support works fine, until something breaks. You need a plan when:
- the site brings in enquiries or sales, and a day offline costs more than the plan;
- the site has lots of plugins or a shop, so updates are delicate;
- nobody in the company has the time or skills to update, check and back it up;
- the site has already been hacked once: without prevention, it usually happens again.
If the site is a single page with a few details and little traffic, sometimes a check-up a couple of times a year is enough. We’ll tell you if that’s the case.
What to ask before you sign
- Are updates tested first, or installed straight onto the live site?
- Where are the backups kept, and when was the last test restore?
- What happens if the site gets hacked: is it covered or not?
- Which jobs are included, and which are paid separately?
- Who answers: someone who knows the site, or a call centre?
With us, requests go through the client area and are handled by whoever knows the site. We don’t promise call-centre response times: we say what we do, and we do it. The details are on the page about WordPress support and maintenance.
